Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Home Gardener.
This site is dedicated to home gardeners everywhere who plan, dream, and work very hard in their chosen garden areas. We are long time gardeners here at our family farm,
Grand Point Farms. We have worked in clay, sand, rocky and fine loam soils. Each has demanded hard work, sweat, and getting a sore spot somewhere on our bodies. But, the
rewards have been and are always lots of great vegetables, fruit, nuts, lovely flowers, a beautiful lawn, fresh fish and some great trees.
And our special garden spot,
among the tall ancient Fir and Cedar trees, beside our bubbling creek, a quiet comfortable place to relax, kick back, and to enjoy ourselves when the immediate work is done.
This web site, for home gardeners is a place to shop for some of your gardening equipment, supplies, gardening information, gardening answers and needs. We cover vegetable
gardening, organic gardening, soil fertility, plant propagation, growing flowers, indoor plants, ornamental plants, lawns, shrubbery, fruit, berries, mushrooms, nut and
shade trees. And of course, greenhouses, fencing, gates, lawn and garden furniture, garden statues and ornaments.

Our emphasis will be on Pacific Northwest gardening. Our maritime climate in the western lowlands and foothills presents a unique kind of challenge to home
gardeners. The Pacific Ocean, and the Puget Sound while moderating our weather, combinations with our surrounding mountains to cause our weather to change
quickly.
But, then because of our latitude, we can receive up to eighteen hours of daylight and sunlight during the summer months. Gardens, field crops, and fruit
and nut orchards generally grow really well during our summers. However, even then sometimes we get too much rain, or that pesky late or early frost or freeze.
However, the drier and colder eastern interior and the higher mountain valley areas throughout the region present quite a different challenge to the home gardener.
The gardening techniques and recommended gardening related books and magazines, information and links, can also be applied to many other parts of the earth with similiar
growing conditions as ours.
Here we will try to answer your gardening questions, post gardening web links, suggest books to read, and post articles of interest. We will display some
advertisements of interest to gardeners.

SEDELMEIER FORESTRY RESEARCH FUND
Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund is a non-profit corporation based in Washington State.
The primary goal is to provide funding for critical tree pathology research into the causes, control,
prevention, and the eventual elimination of some of the diseases that affect the trees of our forest lands.
In addition the Sedelmeier Forestry Research Fund will work to find effective natural means to control
the many insects that harm the forests.
The research work and the results of the funds provided will also be applied to the forest trees everywhere
well beyond the Pacific Northwest forests.
